Here will you find all of the guidance needed to complete the Green at Heart Scheme.

How the Scheme Works
The Green at Heart award has been specifically designed to ensure that it meets your requirements.

Scoring
In order to achieve the points available in any section you need to meet the criteria explained at the bottom of each individual section (coloured light blue). Some sections are mandatory and they are marked with(Compulsory)
Points for each section are clearly marked at the bottom of each section (marked in orange) and also on the criteria checklist.
To achieve a standard you need the following number of points:
Bronze                  30 Points
Silver                     40 Points
Gold                      60 Points

Please see the different sections of the award below for guidance on how to complete.

1. General

In this section you will put together an environmental policy, assess your aspects and impacts on the environment and establish targets for improving your performance. All businesses must complete this section fully.
 

2. Management

In this section you will look at who is responsible within your businesses for environmental matters as well as put into place systems for monitoring your energy usage and waste.
 

3. Communication

In this section you will address how you communicate to staff and customers what you are doing to improve your environmental performance. This section is also compulsary for all businesses.
 

4. Energy

In this section you will look through your businesses to identify areas where you can improve your energy efficiency.
 

5. Water

This section focuses on how you use water within your business and how you can implement solutions to improve efficiencies.
 

6. Purchasing

Here you will look at your supply chain and how this impacts on the environment.
 

7. Waste

In this section you will look at what your business disgards and how you can minimise this and dispose of waste in an environmentally friendly way.
 

8. Travel

This section focus on travel as a result of your business and how you can minise this, whether it be staff travel or how customers get to your business.
 

9. Misc

This section takes into account other areas you may be focusing on that deliver a positive impact on the environment and community you live in.
