CBEN is a key member of the ENWORKS resource efficiency partnership, delivering free environmental support to small and medium sized North West businesses in Cumbria.
CBEN provides practical advice and support to help SMEs cut costs by reducing energy, water and material use, managing waste and reviewing product efficiency or packaging design.
Our support is fully funded and tailored to the needs of individual businesses. It can include on-site efficiency reviews, thermal imaging and compressed air monitoring, training and networking opportunities, telephone support and advice, and ongoing help with making improvements.
We help businesses to cut their energy, material, water and waste costs, bringing a wide range of business benefits, including:

CBEN also offers access to free, bespoke online software to help businesses manage their activity programmes and monitor the resulting savings.
We encourage businesses to sign up to the fortnightly ENWORKS Green Intelligence service, an individually tailored, fortnightly email keeping you informed about best practice and the latest environmental news and events you need to know about.
The ENWORKS resource efficiency programme has already helped more than 10,000 businesses across the North West. In Cumbria, CBEN is helping local SMEs with annual savings of over £21.5m and 75,500 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
Our specialist support is funded by the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and is available as part of the national Solutions for Business package.
