Built in 1854 as a ‘Country Retreat’ in Windermere, Cedar Manor stands in its own mature walled gardens dominated by a 200 year-old Cedar tree.
Cedar Manor is now a hotel offering eleven elegant ensuite guest rooms, a lounge and fully licensed restaurant.
As with most older period buildings, there is always room for environmental improvement. Proprietors Jonathan and Caroline Kaye, took over the Manor two years ago and called CBEN in to advise them on the best options.
After an initial site visit, CBEN’s auditors recommended a range of improvements including replacing a single old boiler with two more efficient condensing boilers, fitting thermostatic valves on all radiators and improving roof and pipe insulation.
Water savings and double glazing to reduce heat loss were also recommended, together with further options to improve lighting efficiency.
We have a keen personal interest in the environment but our visitors also want to know what we’re doing at the hotel. With CBEN’s support and accreditation we can now show our customers what we are doing and how well we are performing.’ Cedar Manor Proprietor Jonathan Kaye
Following further consultation with CBEN the business is now taking on other projects to extend thier environmental credentials, including new energy-efficient refrigerators and another new boiler with digital heating controls in the Coach House.
