Carlisle Leisure

Carlisle Leisure Ltd operates a variety of sports and leisure centres for Carlisle City Council and Allerdale Borough Council.

Facilities are located in Keswick, Cockermouth, Maryport, Carlisle and Workington and their extensive range of attractions include swimming pools, leisure centres, gymnasiums, athletics, tennis clubs, field sports and golf courses.
Site visits and on-going support from CBEN has helped the organisation set up an environmental management system and initiate a number of improvements, including the installation of efficient new gas boilers at Cockermouth and Workington swimming pools, energy efficient lighting in Carlisle and improved building management at the Keswick Leisure Pool. The company also has an on-going programme of installing water saving devices and materials recycling is a regular activity at all sites.

‘We run a diverse range of services from a number of facilities around Cumbria and we are delighted that CBEN have been able to provide the expertise and direction we needed to support our on-going environmental management programme. Energy and water consumption are a priority for us and CBEN has helped us make the right management decisions that will not only conserve resources and reduce our carbon footprint but will also save money in the long term.’ Paul Armstrong H&S/Premises Manager.

Carlisle Leisure Ltd has its own environmental committee, who meet regularly to share best practice and identify new opportunities for improving environmental performance.  Environmental training is a priority at all sites and staff awareness and commitment to energy efficiency and other environmental initiatives is very high. To demonstrate its environmental commitment to customers, the company’s Environmental Charter is displayed in the foyer at each facility. CBEN’s Environmental Awards scheme is helping to motivate the team towards even higher achievement.
