| | Natural benefits for business An English Nature pilot project in Cumbria delivered by CBEN. This project runs for one year and aims to deliver practical biodiversity advice to businesses throughout Cumbria. What is biodiversity and why does it matter to my business? BIODIVERSITY is the entire variety of life on earth, it covers the whole of the living world, including; - Species - from common to rare and endangered species
- Habitats - the places that species occur
BIODIVERSITY supplies the raw materials and natural assets for many businesses and can broadly split into 4 areas:
- Ecological - services eg. Disease control
- Economic - raw materials
- Aesthetic - places of recreation, relaxation and inspiration
- Ethical - conserving benefits to benefit future generations
| | | | Natural benefits for Biodiversity aims to deliver tailored biodiversity advice to your business, taking account of the Cumbria biodiversity action plan to help focus on key species for the locality or those that are most at risk.
Simple measures such as cutting grass around amenity areas less frequently, allows wild flowers to bloom and seed providing a source of food for insects and birds. Long grasses provides habitat for small mammals which in turn can attract birds of prey including owls. Whether you are a small business or occupy a site of many acres there are measures you could put in place to benefit local wildlife often for little or no initial cost contact 01768 891555 for more information | Natural Benefits for Business: the Cumbria pilot (click below to download)
