This is an award for organisations and companies starting along the pathway of assessing their environmental impact and committing themselves to improvement in their environmental performance through the development of an Environmental Management System (EMS).

The requirements are very simple and the demands are relatively low. Most of the assessment for it can be covered within the visits of the Environmental Consultants. The main elements for the Bronze Award are: Commitment at top level within the organisation; Development of an environmental policy; Carrying out an Initial Environmental Review

At the same time any likely environmental risks should be identified so that measures can be taken, in future, to minimise them. Any associated risks should then be easier to cover or control.

It is the start of a long process and the beginning of a steep learning curve, but don't despair, even the so-called experts started there once! You will pick up the language and expressions as you go along!
